Pet Massage- Written by Mary Norton, CMPM

“Why should I massage my pet?” This is a question I am often asked. To begin with, you would get a massage for your dog or cat for the same reasons you yourself get a massage; it feels good and is good for the recipient. Believe me when I say that your dog or cat gets achy bones and muscles and sinus headaches the same as you do. The big difference is, they don’t show it as rapidly. By the time you notice something is wrong, they are typically in a LOT of pain, and the damage may be fairly extensive, not to mention possibly expensive to treat, especially if surgery or extensive pain medication is necessary.

Salmon and Tomato Salad (for Dogs and their People)- Submitted by Nancy Odle

Here is a wonderful spring and summer dish that may help you discover that even though you have never considered one of those cans of salmon or mackerel or sardines as something worthy of dinner once a week, it is actually quite good for you (and your budget) and your pet will love it. The Omega-3’s in the fish are good nutrition for aging (on many levels, from heart and memory to skin repair) and are definitely “good eats” for your dog or cat. Watch how they respond.
